Becoming The Best Versions Of Ourselves
What does it mean to be beautiful? What does it mean to be fit? In every facet of our lives, we are inundated with images designed to answer these very questions. In fact, marketing companies create billion-dollar campaigns to sell us products that are intended to help us on our quest to be more beautiful and to reveal the secret formula for being fit.
The truth, however, is that the answer to both of these questions lies within. Like a beautiful diamond formed under crushing pressure and intense heat, each of us is distinctly unique, from the top to the bottom, having traveled different pathways in our lives. This simple fact makes us who we are - something beautiful to be cherished precisely because of our uniqueness.
A few months ago, I heard the song Try by Colbie Caillat for the first time. It literally brought tears to my eyes as I thought about all the time I wasted in my youth trying to live up to society's definition of perfection and how I wanted to shield my daughters from the insecurities associated with defining oneself through an external lens.
Our goal, then, is not to live up to an external definition of beauty and fitness but rather to become the best versions of ourselves - a better me, a better you. This is at the heart of one of Epiphany Pilates' mottos - Honor your body. Part of this is recognizing our injuries, overcoming our weaknesses and growing stronger - working where we are today with a keen eye on where we want to be tomorrow.
Epiphany Pilates is honored to provide you with the tools to become the best version of yourself and to encourage you throughout the journey.
We hope to see you in the studio soon!
